Chandigarh, Keeping in view the situation caused due to COVID-19, the Haryana Women and Child Development Department has distributed ration to all Anganwadi centres across the state as per the nutrition that has to be provided to the beneficiaries on daily basis at these centres till April 30, 2020.
Giving this information, Minister of State for Women and Child Development, Mrs. Kamlesh Dhanda said that ration had been distributed by the Anganwadi workers and helpers among the beneficiaries by going from door to door in compliance with the State Government's orders to maintain social distancing. She said that the ration distributed included wheat, rice, gram flour, soyabean, sugar, oil and other spices.
She said that the Department with the help of the respective District Administration was distributing sanitary napkins, diapers, sanitizers and face masks through Anganwadi workers and helpers. Apart from this, Anganwadi workers and helpers were also preparing masks themselves and distributing them free to the people.
She said that apart from providing food to the migrant workers and others living in the shelter home, the department was also counselling them so that they did not feel anxious due to COVID-19 and remained mentally healthy. She said that apart from providing facilities as per the requirement to pregnant women in the shelter homes, their health check-up was also being undertaken. Similarly, all children living in child care institutions were also being counseled and motivated to do yoga. She said that while doing this, full precaution was being taken to maintain social distancing.
In order to solve the problems faced by the people because of the lockdown implemented in the state due to COVID-19, the District PO, CDPO and Supervisors have volunteered to contribute an amount of Rs one lakh to the District Deputy Commissioner of District Yamunanagar and to ensure the availability of food for about 100 people daily. While appreciating these efforts, the Minister of State said that in such circumstances more and more people should come forward to help the poor and needy people.
