Chandigarh - Haryana Chief Secretary, Mrs. Keshni Anand Arora, today reviewed the works related to the prevention of COVID-19, opening of industries for production and procurement of crops in a review meeting with the Deputy Commissioners of all districts of the State, officers of the Departments of Industries, Agriculture and Health along with other senior officers through video conferencing.
On this occasion, Additional Chief Secretary, Home, Jails, Criminal Investigation Department, Mr. Vijai Vardhan, Additional Chief Secretary, Medical Education and Research Department, Mr. Alok Nigam, Additional Chief Secretary, Finance and Planning Departments, Mr. TVSN Prasad, Director, Information, Public Relations and Languages Department, Mr. P.C. Meena and other senior officers from various departments were present.
Haryana Chief Secretary said that as per the directions issued by the Central Government during lockdown, industries in the State have started opening due to which workers have started getting employment. She directed the concerned officers to monitor industries. She said that work has started under MGNREGA but more and more people should be provided employment and MGNREGA labourers should be engaged more in water conservation, and irrigation related tasks.
She said that efforts should be made to provide work to the migrant labourers at locations near their workplaces and the police should be informed about their movement from one place to another once they get work. She also directed to start construction projects and brick kilns as per directions. She said that compliance of the directions issued by the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare regarding social distancing should be ensured at all costs. She also praised the Self-Help Groups for making adequate amount of masks on being inspired by the Deputy Commissioners.
Additional Chief Secretary, Health and Family Welfare Department, Mr. Rajeev Arora said that the State Government was also committed towards the health of the employees engaged in the prevention of COVID-19. He made it clear that if any Asha worker is on duty in the containment zone then the full protection kit will be provided to them along with gloves, masks and sanitizer for the remaining duties. Mr. Arora said that civil surgeons can also appoint retired doctors and Paramedical staff who are up to the age of 69 on contractual basis for one year.
Additional Chief Secretary, Industry and Commerce Department, Mr. T.V.S.N. Prasad directed all the Deputy Commissioners and officers of the Department of Commerce to extend all possible help to the industrialists so that they do not face any difficulty in starting their industry.
Additional Chief Secretary, Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Department, Mr. P.K. Das said that where wheat is not being procured by the arthiyas, the concerned agencies have been directed to make direct procurement.
Additional Chief Secretary, Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Department, Mr. Sanjeev Kaushal said that the amount of commission will be sent to the account of the Panchayat or FPO who will play the role of middleman in procurement of wheat. If any person or agency applies for a license for commission, then the Deputy Commissioner can issue license to them as per rules.
