 The Seventh meeting of National Medicinal Plants Board (NMPB) of Ministry of AYUSH was held under the chairpersonship of Minister of State for AYUSH, Shri Shripad Yesso Naik at New Delhi on 30th August 2018. During the meeting the Minister said that Government will support as far as possible for development of medicinal plants sector.

GST Revenue collection for August 2018 close to ninety-four thousand crore rupees

The total gross GST revenue collected in the month of August, 2018 is Rs. 93,960crore of which CGST is Rs. 15,303 crore, SGST is Rs. 21,154 crore, IGST is Rs. 49,876 crore (including Rs. 26,512 crorecollected on imports) and Cess is Rs. 7,628 crore (including Rs. 849 crore collected on imports). The total number of GSTR 3B Returns filed for the month of July up to 31st August, 2018 is 67 lakh. This is slightly higher than 66 lakh returns of the month of June filed up to 31st July, 2018. The last date of filing return of July, 2018 in the State of Kerala was extended upto 5th October, 2018.

Indian Army and Jamia Millia Islamia University (JMIU), New Delhi recorded their mutual intent for academic collaboration, technical advancement and progression of Army Personnel, in a MoU signed           on 28 Sep 2017 between Lt Gen Ashwani Kumar, Adjutant General, IHQ of MoD (Army) &  Prof Talat Ahmad, Vice-Chancellor, Jamia Millia Islamia University (JMIU). The University agreed to recognise the in-service courses run by the Army. This would facilitate admission of defence personnel in second or third year Graduation/Post Graduation/Doctorate programme through the medium of distance learning. This would enable the soldiers to enhance their academic qualification for a better future.

The Department of Food & Public Distribution today organized a “Nukkad Natak” (street play) in Krishi Bhawan, New Delhi, to sensitize employees and public about their responsibilities to keep the country clean under the “Swacchta Hi Seva” campaign. Speaking on the occasion Shri Ram Vilas Paswan, Union Minister of Consumer Affairs, Food & Public Distribution said that under the leadership of the Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi, cleanliness has now become a people’s movement. Shri Paswan emphasized that everyone should make cleanliness a habit. Ms Preeti Sudan, the Secretary, Department of Food & Public Distribution and other senior officials from the Ministry were present on the occasion.

The National Nutrition Week will be observed throughout the country from 1st to 7th September. The theme of the National Nutrition Week for 2017 is "Optimal Infant & Young Child Feeding Practices: Better Child Health". The basic objective of this annual event is to intensify awareness generation on the importance of nutrition for health which has an impact on development, productivity, economic growth and ultimately National development.

Since Industry is a State subject, the Department of Heavy Industry (DHI) does not maintain any centralized data regarding generation of new employment and investment made in heavy industries in the country. The role of DHI is confined to the administration of Central Public Sector Enterprises (CPSEs) under its administrative control. So far as details of employment and investment in CPSEs, in the country, is concerned, the Public Enterprises Survey 2015 – 16, already laid in both the houses of Parliament on 21st March, 2017 indicates that the total number of employees in CPSEs is declining every year since 2009 – 10 except during 2011 -12 and the investment in these CPSEs during the last 3 years i.e. 2013-14, 2014-15 and 2015-16 was Rs. 992095.67 cr., 1095554.32 cr. and 1171844.25 cr. respectively.

              Rainfall Forecast issued by India Meteorological Department for the next 5 days indicate that Heavy to Very Heavy rainfall with extremely heavy fall are very likely to occur in  Arunachal Pradesh, Assam & Meghalaya, Sub Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim and Bhutan. Heavy to very heavy rainfall is likely in Eastern UP, Bihar and Nepal.

Government of India has notified constitution of Authorities at National, State and District levels vide notification at 7th October, 2016 to take measures for prevention, control and abatement of environmental pollution in River Ganga and to ensure continuous adequate flow of water so as to rejuvenate the River Ganga. As per the above Authority Order, no person shall construct any structure for residential or commercial or industrial or any other purposes in the River Ganga, banks of River Ganga or its tributaries or active flood plain area of River Ganga or its tributaries.
