COVID-19 lockdown: DC Srinagar takes stock of provision of essential supplies to rural areas
Holds meeting of local representatives at Khonmoh to seek feedback about services provision and sensitise about the need to follow relevant guidelines and precautions
SRINAGAR- Deputy Commissioner Srinagar Dr Shahid Iqbal Choudhary Tuesday visited several rural areas of the district to review availability and provision of essential services and supplies to residents of those areas.
He also visited and held a meeting with local heads of different parts of Khonmoh area on the occasion. The purpose of the meeting was to seek feedback from them about provision of essential services and supplies to residents of their areas and to understand and redress their concerns.
Speaking on the occasion the DC informed the local representatives of these areas about response mechanism and arrangements the district administration has put in place for supporting residents of rural areas and meeting their routine needs.
It was informed that after completion of distribution of PDS foodgrains the administration was now starting distribution of free ration among BPL families in the area adding that the same will begin from April 24.
During the meeting the local representatives were sensitised about the COVID-19 disease and the need to follow all precautions and guidelines as notified and advertised to prevent and contain its spread.
The DC urged the representatives present on the occasion to join hands with and be messengers of the administration and ensure all guidelines are followed in order to ensure COVID-19 is not allowed to spread in their areas.
He assured that the administration will as it has so far make all routine needs and requirements including medical care available to residents of all rural areas to minimise inconvenience due to restrictions in place in the district in view of the COVID-19 outbreak.
Dr Shahid asked the locals of all areas he visited during the visit to submit details of further requirements assuring all that all demands surrounding provision of essential services and supplies will be made available to them in their areas.
