District Administration goes strict on curfew violators

Going strict against those violating the curfew imposed owing to corona virus, the District Administration has converted the hockey stadium in Phase - 9 into a temporary jail.

Disclosing this here today, the Deputy Commissioner Mr. Girish Dayalan said that the stadium has been converted into temporary jail till the prohibitory orders remain in force. He also said that the main reason behind the move is to ensure that the COVID-19 is effectively contained and stopped from spreading. In Mohali sub division, nakas were put up at Franco hotel, Amrit confectionary light point, Sohana chowk and phase - 8,9 lights.

Divulging more details, he said that in the District, since 23rd March, 2020 till 5th April, a total of 289 FIRs were registered with 391 persons being arrested and 410 vehicles being impounded.

The DC exhorted the people to stay indoors in the larger interest of the society and clearly said that violators of curfew would be strictly dealt with.
