Clearance of NH Projects from PPP Appraisal Committee

 In accordance with CCEA approval for Bharatmala Pariyojana programme, powers have been delegated to Ministry of Road Transport & Highways (MoRTH) and National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) for appraisal and approval of National Highway (NH) projects under EPC and PPP modes of execution.  Further, NH projects envisaged on BOT (Annuity) Mode and Hybrid Annuity Mode (HAM) which cost more than Rs. 2,000 crore (TPC excluding land cost) require appraisal by PPP Appraisal Committee (PPPAC).

The Government of India had approved Bharatmala Pariyojana Phase-I in October, 2017 with an aggregate length of about 34,800 km (including 10,000 km residual NHDP stretches) at an estimated outlay of Rs. 5,35,000.00 crores for development of about 9,000 km length of Economic corridors, about 6,000 km length of Inter-corridor and feeder roads, about 5,000 km length of National Corridors Efficiency improvements, about 2,000 km length of Border and International connectivity roads, about 2,000 km length of Coastal and port connectivity roads, and about 800 km length of Expressways. Total 246 road projects with an aggregate length of about 10,100 km have been awarded till February, 2020 under Bharatmala Pariyojana with Total Cost as Rs. 2,38,413 crores approximately, which also include projects on Greenfield Corridors.

This information was given by the Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Shri Nitin Gadkari in a written reply in Lok Sabha today.
